  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
So excited to start the master stateroom refit. It looks like when I removed the drawers that the previous walls were underneath. I'm thinking that the layout I tore up was not original.

Ok now I need to figure out why the pics posted sideways

You are correct. The wall behind looks like mine and it's original. Don't throw anything away that a fellow owner might be able to use. What are your plans for the aft stateroom?

Just looked really close at the photos. What a great time to repack you rudders. Lots of room to maneuver with the beds out.

Yes seven. I will repackage rudders and reseal the steering cylinder almond with new copper lines. I also plan on removing the water tank and install a new one Under the bed.

Leave the water tank and add a second one under the bed. Vertical tank can gravity feed to under bed tank.

Tony the reason I'm removing the tank is to gain more room at the foot of the bed. The current layout is tight and difficult to open the closet doors. Hence the doors have been removed and the d like to but then back

How about some base data regards project. Is that on a previous post? Do u have drawings? Doesn't the FW system have a second belly tank already?

Chasemmc. Yes there is a tank in the mid stateroom That will stay. I won't have drawings until I finish removing everything then I will have my final measurements

My 1985 has no tank along the transom, just one under the queen berth. As stated, it gives more room at the foot of the bed. Total fresh water tankage is 287 gal.

I think his is like mine with twin beds.

I think mine started out with twin beds and then a centerline queen was added. I thought Hatteras made the switch in 1978. Mine is an 80.

I was told back in 1984 by a friend that had ordered a new 53ED that if he wanted twins instead of the queen it was available....at extra cost. I believe the queen was the standard beginning around 1979 with twins optional. The same applied to most Hatts' with an aft stateroom.

I added under water lights but could only fit two ( one on each side). I bought three but could not get under that thank.

I had dinner with a couple of Hatteras owners last night. I mentioned that you where gutting your aft cabin. One of the guys is in need of a couple square feet of the tiger wood paneling. Would you by chance have saved some?

Seven yes I do. let me know what size he needs I'll see if I can help.
