  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
46' CONVERTIBLE-Series I (1974 - 1981)
Over the weekend, the head in the master stateroom (46C series I) went down. The head, a Raritan Crown Head, wouldn't flush although the bowl would fill up. After removing and inspecting, everything was clean and clear. From what I read on this site, it is time to exchange the unit. At $600 for the rebuilt motor, I'm thinking of upgrading the head all together. I would like to keep the new installation as plug and play as possible. My early research into the subject has been a bit overwhelming. I know the Crown Head is seen as a workhorse.

Is there a better head?

I'm NOT concerned with minimizing water usage, or being energy efficient. I'd like a robust head that will minimize time spent repairing it.

The head will have to be 12V, and of the raw water type.

Any guidance and insight is as always, extremely appreciated!

Thanks!
Vic.

I replaced one on my heats with Jabsco Quite Flush, that was about 8 or 9 years ago. Now all three are the quite flush. No problems, low power requirements (not that maters on such a Gen dependant boat), and in expensive compared to most other choices.

I'm not sure about raw water flush, mine are fresh water.
