marquipt sea stairs lenth

hi i now have a 7 step Marquipt sea stairs that attache to under the gunnel on either side of the boat ...that creates a step over which my wife does not like...i also have hooks for a ladder that we have on top of the gunnel on both sides ....we have purchased a Marquipt Swivel due to not always having enough room on the finger pier and i would like to use the top hooks so there will be not step over....we have tried the 7 step sea stairs on the top and it just does not sit right.....will an 8 step work better i have access to one and if need be would like to get it ...

nobody has any idea if the 8 step Marquipt sea stairs will give a better angle then the 7 step???
