  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
61' MOTOR YACHT (1980 - 1985)
I have a Marquipt Tender Lift with manual elevation/rotation and the powerhead in the base. Some seals have blown, hydraulic oil everywhere, and unfortunately it is not a hose. It looks like the ram needs rebuilding. Ideally, I would like to remove the davit and go through everything but I haven't a clue as to how to get the davit off of the base. I'm looking for advice before I learn something the hard way. :)

Thanks

Pictures would help but if it is manual rotation/lifting it simply lifts off the standpipe. Marquipt will rebuild or replace parts for you however, they’re very proud of their work, $$$. I had mine rebuilt by a company that also rebuilds hydraulic cranes.

I’m pretty certain that the Davit just sits on the 6”-8” support pipe. I had mine serviced for the same reason you are having, ram rebuild. I was surprised when they told me it just lifts off of the support pipe. Surprising how easy it is to rotate the Davit after it has been cleaned up.

Marquipt uses a solid synthetic material that they call “cookies” which act as bearings. There’s a square that is on the underside of the davit base and that is what the top of the standpipe comes in contact with. Then there are two half-moon shaped pieces, one on one side of the base, the other higher, or lower on the opposite side of the base. Those are the contact points between the davit and standpipe. After rebuilding my davit and replacing the cookies it was amazing how easily the boom swings. Such a simple design, but highly effective. Best of luck on the rebuild.

Thanks thank you vey much fellows!
