Bugs Too 58 YF

Guest
I bought Marquip boarding steps (not ladder) and am having difficulty using them. The under-step standoff that actuates the leveling feature strikes the hull directly in the engine room vents on the 58YF. Anyone come up with a solution for this dilemma?

Thanks, Bill

Marquipt Steps

Bill:

I have this on my 53EDH. There is a piece of aluminum channel that "straddles" the engine room vent. It goes into the arm that currently is lining right up with that opening. I can get dimensions for you if you like. Let me know.

Don,

Thanks for the response. I would very much appreciate the specs on the channel. How does it work? Is it permanently mounted to the hull? Does it replace one of the louvers? I was even thinking of having new air intakes fabricated from aluminum and moving the louvers inboard so they are less likely to get whacked. Seems I haven't seen too many 53/58s that have all the louvers straight.
