marine gear question

I have 1980 37c J & T 671 N's with Twin Disc MG-506 gears. If I am out and lose an engine what is the best thing to do for the gears to get home on one engine. Do I leave the dead engine side in neutral ? Do I have to stop the dead side propeller from spinning ect. Thanks any info would help.

Not sure about twin disc, but my allison manual say not to run more then 1/2 mile without locking down the shaft so that it won't turn.
