Marine AC Troubles

Not to be out of place here...But just a note for everyone's info...

For the members here that have joined/registered (Thanks much) on my site, and that I have seen trying...Apologies if you were not able to post, or could not gain access...

For the last couple of weeks we have had what we think is a hacker shutting us down every day at 2 pm EST...Our best efforts have not yet found the problem though we continue to try...
The issue has been sent to a specialist in Texas & I'm hoping for a quick resolution...

You can still access the site/forum but it is best to do so in the mornings, or even in the late afternoon/evenings...
My local web guy has been restoring it every day, but sometimes he is not near a computer to do so right at 2 pm...
Sure has been a pain for everyone, and has kept me from further updating the site for fear of loosing what I write/enter...

Anyway...If you have a question, or if there is anything I can help you with...I'll be happy to answer e-mails anytime...I still get the mails...Or go on the forum/site when you see it available....I also try to check in here daily, but most of the info of course is over there.

It was not my doing or intention...
However...There should be a link at the bottom of each mail to unsubscribe, and As far as I know...It has stopped the mails.

Let me say that Steve has been up front and very helpful to me to get this resolved.
I think it is horrible that some one would do this to his company website and I pray it doesn't hurt him in anyway. Steve has been most generous with his advice and time (as have other experts here), and I feel for him over this incident. We should all give him the support he needs and deserves while he gets this fixed! ppat

Gosh Bob...I'd like to know exactly what was the trouble ????

Because of the problem we did increase the security to sign up...It does entail a basic math question like 2 + 3 equals ?...But we also ask that you wait for a conformation e-mail to the addy you registered with....

You should get an e-mail asking you to confirm...Then you do, or don't...Or it may be in your spam folder....

I check what is called "Unverified Users" and can approve it without....I have not seen you...

Truth is...With all this stuff it's been hard...It was easy to sign up...But we had to increase the security to sign up for the spam reason...Hell...With the old settings I was getting at least 50 bogus members a day...From no telling where...

Got to over 1000 members & I knew that they were not real...So we deleted 1000 or so (sorry if anyone real got deleted)

Don't know if it pissed one of the over 1000 off...but that's where we are at.

All I can say is...Doing a website/forum is a whole lot different than working on boats !!!!

I'll give it another shot and report back. I'm pretty sure I filled all the fields correctly, and I did the math three times. I'll get back to you.

Still not having much luck, Steve. I got logged in ok, and was directed to a profile screen. The first thing I did was to try to change my password from the one you sent me. I entered the new pw and hit the update button. I then received error messages for every other field on the profile. I now click the profile button and it does not take me into the profile screen.

I also went into the troubleshooting forum and added a new topic about one of my Cruiseair units failing to produce heat. I did the math as requested - prefixed the digit with a 0 as you suggested, and it seemed to take ok. When I went back to look at it, the thread did not exist. Maybe it's bad karma; maybe its a bug; maybe it's SUS (stupid user syndrome), but I'm not doing so hot on this one.

Just talked to my web guy...Bob...Your problems could be due to him...He was removing what are called "Plug-In's" yesterday...some were for registration...He's doing this to try to isolate where the problem exists...If he removes certain plugins, and the problem we are having go's away then bingo....

So far NO Bingo !

He has also hired outside sources to get to the bottom of all this...

He has asked me to stay off the site/forum for today...at least not make any changes, and I will stay off for as long as he asks...

Bob if you want to send me an e-mail about your A/C/Heat....I'll gladly respond...If you want to start a new thread here about it that's fine too.
BTW...I do show you as a member on my end of the site, so hopefully after all this BS is over you will not have any problems....
