Manual Swing “J” type David Question

We have a 1968 50’ Flush DecK Hatteras with a J Davit that penetrates the hard top so the tender can stit on top. There is a reinforcing plate on the top of the hard top (see picture) but not on the bottom side of the hard top (see picture). Can Someone tell me if there is supposed to be a plate on the underside as well.Thanks

Yes there should be a matching plate on the bottom. The screw goes all the way thru and bolts on the bottom side. I’m not at the boat to show you a photo.

A beauty ring of some sort should be there, you could run a bead of 4200 to cover the opening.

Mine does not have a plate on the underside and it works just fine, we use it all the time, no cracks or streets lines at all. John

I saw this in Home Depot this morning and 5hought of this post. The opening is 5”. It’s meant for a shower but it might do the trick if you’re looking for a finished look. It was in the plumbing department if you want to check it out.
