I'll giv'em credit, looks like they re-buttoned the bottom, maybe re-planked as well. First question is did they use silicon bronze screws, no doubt yes as mostly all that good chandleries offer. However, did they refasten the 2 or 3' above the chine/waterline and again good SB screws. The beautiful paint job, and it is great, would be more than offset if a plank above the chine pops "proud" while running into a sea. They then work open and are glorious water scoops!
About 20 years ago a gone over Chris Connie was on a maiden voyage, out on Lk Michigan up by Traverse City, looking attractive, but popped planks from un-replaced fasteners and had to run aground out on one of the Fox Isles I think. Brass screws in the old woodies will go bad, due to internal galvanic issues. Also, they get crevice corrosion and neck down between the planks, both issues leading to weakening and failure underway. The wood is fine, its the old fasteners!
Also, about 1982 or so, I was running a 35' Chris DC (fiberglas) down to Saginaw on Lk Huron from Cheboygan for a Dr. friend. While underway, some strange radio calls were heard, then USCG search and rescue calls. Later learned that an old woodie Chris Connie MY, out on a maiden voyage, after a year in the barn having the bottom redone, had popped a plank, and....went down! Probably only about 15 miles astern of me. I knew where the work had been done and years later they did some some atrocious work for me. I'm glad my frau did not have a stroke writing the check, because she knew hos bad it was. I said, pay the man, cuz the boat will never be back here!
Finally, with the modern two and three part paints and varnishes, I will venture that the re-varnish annually will not be nearly the issue as in the past. I used All-Brite 3 part varnish on my wood swim platform several years ago and the finish is holding up very well indeed. While underway she is always flooded with water from prop wash and sides waves and if I pump the after bilge, the effluent runs out over the platform.
But is is first rate work from the pictures. As good as I have seen.
