Hmm - well that makes sense I guess - if you have some sort of filters/screens on the eng room air intakes the Magne what-sis could indicate if those screens are clogging with salt spray or whatever.
I think we all need at least one of these. Learned a new term, "baghouse", too. I guess a baghouse is the kind of house you have if you have a hosebag at home.....
They are used all over in power plants. It's usually for measuring differential pressure in duct work or stuff like that. "bag house" in a power plant is the huge filter system that filters out particulates from the flue gas. Imagine a bunch of huge paper vacuum cleaner bags--it's very similar.
A clear tube with dyed water in it works fine too.
