Reverse is still there...oil level is on the full mark.

Boat ran fine for a couple of days and now no go....can some kind soul tell me what stupid thing I did/didn't do correctly :o .

Sounds to me like you're still low on oil. Did you check tranny oil level with engine running and after cycling gear a few times?

Sure did....that's what's got me scratching my head

Did you try popping the cable off and shifting the selector by hand? Sometimes climbing around on the stuff can move things unexpectedly. Maybe the adjustment was marginal to begin with.
Was there a filter or screen that was opened? Possibly a chunk of sheist was dislodged and is hanging up on a valve etc. What kind of gears are they? ws

Bill,

Allisons...just got a call from the boat and both stb. and port won't engage???

what kind of tranny ?

if allison, if the level is jsut a little low i get a delay going in fwd or no fwd at all. since fluid need to be checked engine running and hot, i'm also betting on low level... you dont' have much to loose by adding some oil...

did you clean the screen while doing the oil change ? if so, check the gasket.. it's on the suction side and the pump is very sensitive to an intake leak. been there... done that.

I had this happen after rebuild on mine. I backed away from the lift well and then no forward gear  . So instead of turning around, I just backed all the way out the fairway. Then after messing around in and out of gear a few times and it finally started working.

Pascal,

Got lazy and didn't change the screen...I'm having them add oil now, so we'll see...I agree, that's what it sounds like.

Although I didnt have any problems, I pulled the HYDRECO pump apart to fix the Tach drive cable. At the same time I did the trans oil flush/change. Hydraulics are a great power transmitter, but sometimes take a while to re-prime. I am willing to bet you lost the prime on the pump, and reverse takes less pressure to lock up IMHO. Did you let them run for a good while? Gear pressure good? ws
