  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
I need or would like new frig and freezer under counter. What about the kitchen aid i was in Lowes yesterday and they were on sale. Or reduced about 500 each ending up at approx 1400 each.
I posted about wanting new ones last year and someone sent me information on commercial modles. I have tried to find that post and am unable to. PLEASE RESEND IF YOU READ THIS.

Search Summit they make some undercounted units. I've been rehabbing my old Sub Z's for 40 years but I've got to bite the bullet too. The new undercounted units don't have the room mine did. And the ones that have the little freezer compartment are just wasted space

I installed Summit under counter units on my previous boat and was not very happy with them. They didn't cool well in very hot weather. I would not buy them again.

They also cost a lot- more than they are worth. I clearly recall the problems with them on Eric's former boat.

I have two of them on my boat and they are great. Temp is very stable and they cool quickly. I do wish they were bigger but we do ok with 4 of us spending most of the summer aboard. We cook regularly so the fridge is usually fully stocked. The 4k per unit is a bit steep but they are the perfect fit for a low profile galley and the look is very custom

Tim, call Danny Martin. In addition to being a fantastic marine AC guy he does general refrigeration too. He saved my big 1996 Sub Zero side by side on my 56 and also refurbed my Scotsman ice maker. Very fair pricing and a quality person. I am pretty sure he is a Sub Zero dealer but have him take a look at your set up first. He gets over to Morehead on a regular basis. He is the MAN.

If the boxes and doors of the Z's are ok I'd look into fixing what you got. Freezer freezing up is usually the internal fan or defrost timer. I've lost several of the fans when I shut the units off and the doors closed the moisture rusts the fan and seizes the shaft.

Graf to know especially with winter coming. I always leave the drawers open once we shut things down
