Hatteras Model
Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
Greetings to all....
New to the forum and want to thank you all for the great threads I've been reading. I'm looking for a late 60's -early 80's 53' Hatteras MY for a live a board. We are in the Panhandle of Florida and plan on initially just limited cruising along to Panhandle region for a few years. I don't really see us (may change) taking her past KW in the future. Trying to keep the pricing at 150K or less. My biggest focus
is on a vessel with sound bones/mechanical. I plan on doing cosmetics to fit our desires over time.

Stating that.....I have seen on yachtworld what appears to be a pretty solid candidate in P-Cola. The
biggest concern I see is age, but I do know people that have good boats in that age.

Does anyone know of this lady and/or can provide me some thoughts based on the listing?

Thanks again to all...

Looks nice for a 69,price is nice so if it's close take a look. I'm looking as well and there are more ED's than classics and the ones I've seen need a lot of work which takes a lot of $$$. There is one in key west for $65k but it is a work in progress boat.

Why no engine photos?

Looks lived in, shall we say. Very original, warts and all. If the engines etc are okay might be a good deal somewhere south of 99K.

Has there been a recent survey? If not get one on both the hull and motors. Make sure there are no soft spots and as important the motors are in great running order. If not you can double the cost with rebuilt motors. Good luck.

Welcome arkiehawg!

Good luck with your search. I heard the Pensacola 53 was not that nice. Listing photos are well over 5 years old as is the listing. You should be able to find a good 53 for $150,000. Not a magnificent one...but a good one. NOTHING will be more expensive to own than a fixer upper. Look at all of them. If you pay a little more for the nicest one now, your wife won't divorce you!
