Hatteras Model
36' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1983 - 1987)
hi hof members. i have been a member of the forum for a seveal years since I bought my 1966 28 sportfish project boat.. i log on frequently to learn but post infreqentlly. my boat is now just about done so of course i realise that it is too small. my two boys are fast outgrowing being able to sleep on the convertible dinnette table together. i am looking for a series 2 36" galley up. there is one in south carolina that looks nice but i would like to run some performance number by you to see what you think. it is equiped with the 390hp @ 2500rpm j&t 671 ti (m-95 injectors, does this mean it may put out 410 hp with these injectors?). it has 1.5:1 trans with 24x26 props. the current numbers are: top speed 20 knts @ 2200 rpms
16.8 knts @ 2000 rpms
this was lightly-moderately loaded on a test run into a 10-15 mph wind and a 1' chop. the bottom may have a little growth but it was not inspected and the barnicle growing season has not really started yet. the engines have about 1900 hrs and are original.
my question is if the bottom and props are clean what kind of numbers shoul i get at top end and cruise and should i insist on a compression check before considering this boat.
thank you,brian
