One of my vacuum gauges that I've had sitting in a drawer waiting to be installed has leaked. I don't know how the plug got loose. It lost about half of it's liquid. The stuff that came out of there was rather thick, definitely not mineral spirits.

What liquid is normally used in these?

They are filled with glycerin... ws

Glycerine is fairly common. It is also common - though unsightly - for liquid filled gauges to only be partially full, sometimes as low as 1/2 full and it doesn't adversely affect their operation. IF the gauge is not fluttering, it's not an issue performance-wise. If you can't deal with visual of the partially-filled gauge, that's a different issue which, I must admit, I can certainly understand.

glycerin

edit: DAMN too slow! I opened a bunch of unread threads and was making my way through them. At least the wise bill and me agree---hell, we always agree! It must be the powerhouse love.

I’ll try to install it where vibration won’t be an issue but if it is, where can I get glycerin?
