  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
WTB Life Raft 6 man, soft or hard cover. Prefer one that is in date but will consider all.

PM me here:cool:

There is 6 man Switlik on ebay. Looks new, but probably needs re-certification.

Blaine,

Thanks, I have looked at that one and it is really old. These things get really tired even in the box. I am looking for one in the 6 to 10 year old range.

I have learned from another life that you buy one out of date you better buy it cheap because you are rolling the dice big time.

By the way I am not a sport fish kinda guy but that is one sweet boat you got there. And 30KTS too, shazamm!!!!

I bought mine new at Miami boat show 2 shows ago. Revere 8 man offshore for 1650 and free shipping. 3 year before repack because it was vacuum packed. Best del around. shopped everywhere. Revere direct. Valise. 2 cents worth. Good luck.

Not sure we are talking about the same one. The one I see is in a box and has an '06 date of manufacture.

Still not quite as good a deal as wademmer mentioned though.

FWIW I looked at the market a few years ago and bought a Winslow. If you have to buy a new one, look at them. I reviewed the few comparative tests I could find and Winslows finished at the top or near it every time.

Also for a used raft that IS updated, try Annapolis Air Works, I think they are called, they often have good used ones that they have repacked and certified.

Thanks Jim,

And you are correct I have used and trained in Winslow rafts and they are by far the best! I am trying to talk myself out of a new one so I can afford the thruster!

I think the life limit is 12 years. Cert costs are high if the bottle needs hydro. I've got a Switlick Offshore. I cut the costs a little by not opting for the food and water as part of the survival pack.
Like a parachute, if you need it your life may be depending on it, do you realy want a used or cheap one???

Mr. Smith,

Maybe I should be more clear. My cruising will take me more than 5 miles from shore less than 5% of the time. I am trying to be cost effective not cheap. My open water survival training and having a close relative that experienced a sinking (Concordia) some 350 miles from shore and spending 2 days in the raft also dictates that my raft will have food and water.

There are many brands that provide very good products. IMHO however Winslow has thought the process through the best. I have used a Winslow in open water training. If I were a blue water cruiser it would be a Winslow period. I have no connection to the company nor do I even know anyone who sells them.

Respectfully,

Russ:cool:

I have one to sell. Never used. Bought new in '08. Not certified since new. It is a soft 6 person coastal. I can find out more details if you are interested. Very heavy for purposes of shipping.

There are some shipping regulations that apply to sending rafts; Winslow sends you a prepaid container with all the appropriate labels on it, and gives you all the instructions for packing etc. I think rafts have to be sent by ground trucking since they contain CO2 cartridges etc.

Thanks Jim. Good to know.

I recently needed to get a new 6 man raft. Shopped around for used ones. I ended up buying a Viking coastal. (does not have food and water). If you care to have it certified you are going to have to get a used one for almost nothing. I bought the new one because it was not cost effective to get a used one and get it repacked and certified.:)

So true for a comparison my Switlik 6 person cost at least 1K every time even if its one year later!

I have an Avon 6 person RORC ISO with Canopy I am taking it off the Janet D. now and will sell it inspected and certified from Lifeline in Miami FL or as is. Pics of it are on my website.

I just priced a recert on a 4 person EV. The quote was $1200.00. It hasn't been done for a couple of years.

My question is what the annual cost if you keep up with it. Guess I should have asked them.

I just found an 8 man I didn't even know I had. My recently aquired 53MY spend a few years in South America and I suppose that is when it was purchased. I have no idea of the brand but there is a bit of paperwork with it indicating the most recent cert. was in 1995. I guess it is pretty much useless for survival but maybe could be used by someone for training. Any thoughts about that avenue for disposal?

I have a almost new revere coastal hard case. Need recent. Call me if you still need a life raft.

Well as I said it runs me about 1 k even one year after it done was about 1,200 when it was 6 years out. They told me it would be a lot less if I did it every year!
1,200 do to 1,000 does not seem like a Big savings to me so its the typical salesperson B.S

My Winslow goes 3 yrs between recerts. Just had it done. $936.34 including shipping.
