Life Raft Choices

I'm in the market for a new raft, and have tentatively narrowed it to either a Winslow Super Light Offshore Plus, or a Switlik Offshore Passage Raft - Heavy Duty. Still a couple other brands in the hunt, but these two, in valise cases, are the front-runners. Does anyone here have any first-hand knowledge of repacking for either of these brands? Curious as to cost of repack. Both companies will give you an estimated cost, but I've read where the cost can vary dramatically from the estimate, and am looking for someone who's been there done that to provide insight.

Some of the raft companies have longer/extended years before inspection, that's what I would be looking for. Also, make sure the inspection facility that's close by services the brand you purchase, no need for the added expense of shipping the raft.

I have the 6 man Winslow Offshore vacuum packed raft in valise. Bought it in 2013 had had it inspected and repacked on schedule (2 years) by Winslow in Florida. Couldn't have been more convenient. They had it picked up at my residence by FedEx and delivered back after inspection. Think my cost was $200or $250. It is very light and best reviews of any raft for ease of deployment and entry.

I have a Winslow 8 man, and in the vacuum pack they go three years between services. It costs me about $900 for the complete service and they are great to deal with.

Mel, if you're only paying $200-$250 I'd sure like to talk to them about it, but that seems kind of light.

Get the Winslow. They were outstanding in some comparison tests of rafts done by PS a few years ago. Their quality control is extremely good. They don't sub out their repacks AFAIK.
