Lewmar Thrusters/Smooth Move, Inc./Molinaro

Guys, many thanks for your comments and help previously regarding my post on Vetus Thrusters and Florida Bow Thrusters.

I'm still investigating bow thrusters and installers. Does anyone have any knowledge about or experience with "Smooth Move, Inc." and/or Shane Reed, Owner, in Naples, Florida. I have been told that Shane was at one time the lead technician/installer for Florida Bow Thrusters. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, they install Lewmar Thrusters. Does anyone know anything about the quality of their work? They have excellent prices and are considerably less than Florida Bow Thruster. What about Lewmar Thrusters?

Also, does anyone know anything about a Molinaro Thrusters? Joe Molinaro is the owner and they install Vetus.

Any observations, comments, suggestions, etc., about either or both of these companies or Lewmar will be appreciated.

Hi Paul:

Contact Bob Sentz at WESMAR bsentz@wesmar.com they have some great products. If you go with a 12 inch thruster I have a piece of tube that will work fine for your boat. I think you will be impressed with WESMAR,. We now have the stabilizers and the tube for our thruster is installed. Will be putting in a 12 inch model in spring 2008. www.wesmar.com These guys are engineers who know what they are doing/talking about and you can deal with them directly. They have an installer out of NC.

Thanks very much. I called Bob and he is preparing a quote. I had not thought of Wesmar since they are a West Coast Company. But I have checked out their web site and its impressive. One thing I do really like about their newer DC Pro is its continuous operation capability, and they offer a good warranty. They do have reps in North Carolina, so that will work for me.

I will keep everyone posted on a decision and progress.

If I remember right you are in Wilmington, NC. I know one of the guys in Wilmington who does installs for one of the major manufacturers of Bow Thrusters, I think it is Wesmar. I think he is very capable but he surprised me last time and really let me down. Anyhow you could talk to him and get some ideas from him. My new boat has a wesmar but I have only used it once or twice, so I can't comment much. Email me and I will give you his name and number.
