  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
31' CRUISER (1967 - 1971)
I have a lectra san that was new about a year and a half ago, and it works great. However, when under way the water level in the bowl rises a couple of inches along with some odor. Reflush and it's ok for a while. Any suggestions.

As far as I know, there are no check valves or pumps in a LectraSAN unit. Discharge from the head enters the first chamber on the first flush. Head discharge from the next flush also enters the first chamber, forcing the discharge from the previous flush into the second chamber of the LectraSAN. The third flush forces the original discharge out of the LectraSAN unit to run overboard. There must be a head discharge pump somewhere in your system that may be the source of your problem. Or, you need to install a check valve.

Your toilet should have a joker valve (rubber check valve) in its discharge. If waste is seeping back into the bowl the joker valve is leaking. Replace it and your problem should be solved.

Roger that on the joker valve. Its about the last thing in the discharge side on the head. Its weak and not snapping shut. Replacement should be simple.
