  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I have a leak into owners cabin head
It is dripping into the wash hand basin and the water is brown
Could it be the screws holding the deck drain fittings
It emanates from rain water
I can’t see where the drain hose from near the aft deck wing doors go but I would have thought if one of them split the water would run down to the bilge

Check the drain line on the salon air cond. air handler above, or the deck drain is not sealed to the deck on the starboard side.

Nope, you are correct it is the hose from the deck drain by the wing doors. There is a panel in the overhead in the medicine cabinet above the sink. The water drips on that overhead piece and migrates to where ever it’s want to come out. Ask me how I know

we had the same leak issue in our MSR head. I used a Fein Multimaster to cut an access hatch in the forward top section of the medicine cabinet.
Access to the drain hoses was fairly easy and inspection revealed that one of the drain hoses had developed a crack.
I bought new flex hoses and replaced both of them...no more leaks (at least from that area)

No hatch in the medicine cupboard
Loathe to cut one as the maybe wires etc
Wondering if l lift the deck drain whethe l can pull the hose up a bit and make a repair

I think those drains were bedded in 5200.

I did not have an access panel either. The discharge sea chest is located behind the panel under the owner's stateroom shower seat. As you can see, 1 air cond drain, 2 sinks, and 2 deck drains. I had to unhook the hose at the sea chest and pull it out from above to replace it. Also make sure that you attach the new hose to the old hose end when you feed it up and out. I recommend that you make very sure that it isn't the caulking around the drain that is leaking. This was a big job.

The wet bar / ice maker line also runs that way. Turns kinda in the middle of the head but can run from there. Our leak was running from the wet bar, down the hose and dropping at the 90 degree turn.

I had exactly the same problem. The screw heads of the panel in question may be covered by paint, but there is a panel. It turned out that the drain hose had come loose from the deck drain fitting.

I can’t see any screw heads in the top of the medicine cabinet
Is thei where I should be looking
There is a panel on the top of the shower to the right of the shelf b:eek:ut I don’t know if this gives access

I'll be back on the boat in a couple of days and will take a pic of the panel.

Update
Took off a hatch near the medicine cabinet and despite really flooding the decks could see no leaks
I am beginning to wonder whether a leak from the shower plumbing could be shooting water upward as the cola coloured water sprays out rather than drips
Any thoughts welcome
