The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down...

Good luck. I've never boated on the Great Lakes but I'll bet it's pretty neat in nice weather. Pics I've seen are pretty impressive.

It is a fantastic place to boat, problem is the season is to short. After it warms up we are heading up to Gitchagumee in July for a couple of months. We love Lake Superior, hence the name of the boat, crystal clear water, great anchorages and beautiful rustic views. Should be about 500+ miles round trip.

Sounds like a great trip. I need to do some google map stuff - didn't realize it was that far to the big lake.

Chris,
When are you heading for Superior? We will be going to the North Channel again and maybe we can meet up in Detour or something.

BTW, where do you go in Superior? Up the Canadian side? Heck, I might even change plans and follow you. The only reason I don't go to Superior is I don't know anyone to show me the way.

Here's the plan. Depart first week in July head to Harrisville, than to Rogers city and on to Detour. Make A stop at Richards Landing and than to the Soo. Through the locks and had to Big Bay (anchor out, first time!) on to Munising and picture rocks, Marquette and than to the south entry into Portage Lake. Like to stay here for a week or so, great fishing! Out the north entry and across the lake to Islle Royale, fantastic place, great lake trout over a 1000 Moose and wolves to watch on hiking trip. Work our way back so we can meet some friends in Mac city at the end of August. Sounds pretty aggressive but we have been planing this for a few years.

Wow, sounds great! Unfortunately, I just don't have that much time. We'll be in Duncan Bay sometime after July 4. Then up to the North Channel on the last week of July and first week of August. Then back to DB for a week and then back down Lake Michigan.

Have fun and be careful up there.

Sky, as with any trips those dates are flexible, if we leave a little late maybe we can meet somewhere around Richards Landing, they have a brand new marina. I also plan on being in Cheboygan/Duncan Bay later in the trip.
