  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
36' SEDAN (1985 - 1987)
Oct 6 is late for a little weekend cruise in Buffalo. We caught some beautiful weather, clear skies, nice temperature. Maynard Rupp mentioned he liked the Erie Canal. Here's a few pictures from where it starts. Every town along the canal has been given funds to fix up their water front. The pictures are from Tonawanda and North Tonawanda. This area used to be the worst. See what a few well intended dollars can do if spent effectively. I also included a few shots of Niagara Falls from upstream about a mile and a half. I traveled down the west Niagara River around the Northern tip of Grand Island. When you round the Northern end you are very close to the falls, it's called the "point of no return". No matter how many times I have done it, I still get a bit nervous when I come through the cut to head up stream towards the east Niagara River. Check the photos that show the Niagara Falls ski line and the mist rising from the Falls. In the pictures at the start of the Erie Canal You can pick out our little 36 Hatteras Sedan. Typical fresh water Hatteras.

Yeah, linky no worky.

Although I would never give up my slip in San Diego... I grew up in Rochester, went to Niagara University, and aged a week in just one night of partying in N. Tonawanda........ I forgot how much I miss the fall season and totally regret that I never got into boating until I moved to the west coast.

Thanks for the pics

Bernie

Season over? Well that is great news for us, the big fish should be heading this way. :D I did not realize your season ended so soon. I guess we are just spoiled. :p We will try to come up with some good adventure stories to hold you over 'till next season.

yesterday was one of those days. water was flat, moon was full. spent the day at the beach (actually went swimming) and needed a jacket at night.
who has it better than us!
but alas, we too will soon be up and dry.

Thanks for the pictures. Your 36 looks great. What are the scoops? midship near the cleats?

Hal,

The scoops are extra air intakes for the engine room. They are after market as this was a gas boat originally. Our weather for this coming weekend, snow flurries, great. My boat is put away inside clean waxed and dry. I also finally got my forward running light situation straightened out. For those of you with the 1983 - 1988 36 you may be interested in this set up if you have the same arrangement as I had. My 36 came with a pain in the neck mast head light inside the fly bridge, why? I don't know, bad design, with an enclosure you couldn't see anything. I put a black towel over it when running at night, not very safe. I hated the thought of moving it outside to front of the bridge cap, ugly. I found a led 12 v white high intensity cluster sealed in plastic that mounted flush to the bridge cap. It's almost invisible during the day, but at night it's so bright you can't believe it. It has a 10,000 hour life, uses almost no amperage, and was easy to install. Parts were about $50, the lamp and a transformer, led's have to have non fluctuating voltage. http://www.theledlight.com/ they have lots of stuff.
Here's the one I installed. http://www.theledlight.com/ice_pucks.html Don't forget the driver. It flush mounts very nicely.

Thanks for the great shots of the beautiful end of season run!

Now, we northerners must go back and look at the Eliott Key, Columbus day Regatta photos, especially Guzman's "RENKEN". Damn I wish I lived in the south!!!!

Praying for a short winter again!

Nick
