Well we made it! Left Sandy Hook N.J. last Wed. First day to Cape May outside in a 10kt southeasterly. Great day. 2nd day thru the Delaware river into the C&D canal to Georgetown Md. where we had a front come thru at night. Next day was the one I'm very glad I had a Hat. 35 to 40kt gusts with a 4 to 6ft steep chop on the Chesapeake. Only 2 boats out that day, us and a 180 plus footer with a helo on the aft deck painted the colors of the Miami dolphins with their flag flying named Floridian. Guess I know who owns that yacht. About 2pm running low on the main tank the starbord engine started losing rpms so changed tanks and knew I had picked up some crud from the bottom of the tank. Headed into Reedville Va. to change filters and fuel up. Billy Bobs marina I call it in the middle of nowhere on the Northern neck of Va. Got 50 gallons before his motor on the pump burned up. No problem, he had a spare motor and would have it changed in 15 min. Well an hour later that motor he replaced was a left hand turn and we needed a right hand turn. Decided to go down the bay to Deltaville to get more fuel however the starboard engine quit right after we untied so back to the fuel dock where I tried to get it going again to no avail. Billy was still trying to find a new motor for the pump so we tried calling a mechanic on Fri afternoon. Well ya'll know where that ended up. Stayed the night and the next morning were trying to figure out why the starboard engine wouldn't fire when a good ol boy with 6 teeth a 8 & 1/2 fingers walked up and asked if we had primed the carb, yes I'm gas, and I said no, don't know how to do that. Take the spark arrestor off and pour gas onto the carb, put the arrestor back on and fire it up. One problem, Billy bobs pump doesn't work. OK there's a lawnmorer over there we'll get the gas from there. Did what he said and she fires right up. Meanwhile Billy bob is making a 2x4 stand to mount the pump motor backwards so it has a right hand turn to pump gas into my tanks. Only be another 15 min. 1/2 hour later it's pumping. Got to Great bridge Va that night. Next day in the ditch 160miles to orenital that night then to New Bern the next morning. Great trip and all systems on the boat worked like a charm with the exception of the above which I can say was my fault for not swiching tanks early enough. Good to be home in my new state N.C.
