Several years ago when Krush was looking for a boat and talking about how the prices were dropping I laughed. Turns out he was right. Looking at the 53 just listed says a lot about how the past time has changed. Marinas here that were booked 30 years ago are lucky to be half full. How times are a changing.
I for one am spending more time playing with cars. The parts are lighter and storage is cheap.

I don't disagree about prices, but the boat just listed has been for sale for awhile. I remember it from when I first started looking. It has some odd modifications, such as the lower helm is gone.

There was a 53 1977 Hatteras for sale in San Francisco. It’s located at the St. Francis yacht club And because the birth goes along with the boat even though the new owner will not own the slip the boat was priced at $400,000 and sold. I wish I put my boat in Saint Francis.

Down here (SoFl) it s pretty miuch impossible to find dockage and prices average between $35 and $45 a foot per month... that has to have an impact on older boats since the buyers who can afford dockage and insurance can usually afford newer boats without the maintenance and headaches.

I don’t think prices have been dropping, it s just difficult to know the condition of boats sold or for sale. Looksnto me like they ve been staying in the same range for a few years.

Compared to new boats and the depreciation hit they take in the first few years... we re doing great
