The last time I saw her, she was sitting in the corner of the plant covered in dusty plastic and looking quite neglected.

Evidently things have improved. Now if we can just get that same crew of guys to work on the SS United States, we'd have something.

I saw it at the show as well. Very impressive I must say. My wife didnt even know it was an old boat. Thats how nice it really is.

Great to see the new owners realize the value of refurbishing Knit Wits, and so quickly. Very positive sign that they get the brand.

Restoring her for the show probably cost less than a slip for the new 70 would have too. Smart marketing makes for better exposure at lower costs.

I bet the people interested in the big sport fishing boats appreciated her most.

Anyone get any more photos of her up close?

Anyone know what engines she has in her? I think she last had 6V53TIs from the 1980's Hatteras refit.

Really terrific job on his second rebuild and agree the Knitwits rebuild is a good sign and the old timers at the show seemed up beat about the new owners "getting the brand"

The display reflected the the fact that the company is in transition with only a few boats and, as hopefull as I was about the new 100 RPH, I have to admit a bit of a let down. There were a couple 100 foot brokerage Hatteras' in the show that IMOP gave a better appearance in my opinion than the new one. She was actually a little dirty, as if they didn't have tome to buff her out in time for the show.

Hopefully next year we will see a whole new lineup and be blown away.

jack, you are correct, she had 6v53s in the 1984 rebuild. I had the opportunity to go aboard her in 1999 at the a&m yacht sales rendezvous held at the beau ravage casino resort in Biloxi ms. I don't remember the gentlemans name that was showing her, but he was employed from day one with hatteras.

It really is amazing how good design is timeless. While she doesn't look modern, she looks GOOD. Hopefully the new ownership does "get it" and they'll bring the brand back to being the flagship of the industry. I've got my fingers crossed.

Here's a few. .
