I have dual Kahlenburg horns on my boat. the compressor has been cycling on and off in very shorts bursts after reaching approx 40lbs pressure. I have checked every fitting I can find and no air leeks. I believe the problem is the pressure switch. It is a Sensata PS80-K3-1031. I CANNOT locate the part anywhere, any suggestions? oh and I have checked kahlenberg's and they don't have a parts area on the site. I did leave them an E-mail asking how and where I could obtain the switch but have not heard back yet. I am wondering is I could use a different switch?

Before you buy a switch, if you have an air pressure regulator, for example something that most air compressors have, and air compressor, and a multi-meter you could pressurize the switch with the meter attached and see what pressures it's cycling at. Your diagnosis is probably correct, however, if it's not difficult to do I like to "trust but verify" before buying parts.

You can probably source a switch like that at MSCdirect.com or McMaster.com

Good idea Derek, I was wondering how I could check it but I cant find the parameters of the switch, very little information available. When I took it off I figured I would would just run up to Graingers and for 10 bucks get a new one, hell this is harder than finding parts for an old onan!

http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-pressure-switches/=hjjkmw Do you think this one will work? Any ideas about what the Actuation would be? 30lbs?

You could just leave them blasting all the time. I love Kahlenberg horns. Wish my boat was big enough to have them.

Maybe another phone call to Kahlenberg? They should be able to help you out. Sometimes emails don't get read as fast as we'd like them to.

Looks like it says 135-100 right on it. What kind of compressor is it?

I had a problem with my Kahlenberg horns about 2 years ago and called them and they sent the part out same day and even apologized for the part failure. Really great customer service.

I don't think the 135-100 is the Actuation pressure, more like 30-40lbs max I believe. I don't recall the name of the compressor but it is only 24v. However reading a little closer the data sheet does say 135 +/- 10 it just didn't think I ever saw a pressure reading that high on the tank. I guess it is time just to call Kahlenberg and order one. Oh and your right Jim I love the sound of Kahlenberg Horns, that's probably why its broke because I use them all the time! they only are rated for 100,000 cycles!

Chris, which Kahlenberg horns do you have? I have to replace my Alpex and I was looking at the D-0A. Not cheap, but what a sound.

Yup that's the one I have, a real attention getter! Zero series d-0a. It's actually 24v, pricey but a great sound

Thanks. Where did you find the 24v? I can only locate the 12v

Art, do you need the whole setup? I can get it to you at a discount. Email me and let me know.

I can order just the trumpets, or the complete system...and I may be up your way early next week.

If you were only seeing 60 psi and that comp is supposed to operate between 100-135 unless it's regulated somewhere else I think your horn is going to get a lot louder.

It's like "Spinal Tap"- our amps go to ELEVEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jason, I sent you an email.
