That's just wrong on so many levels.

Hatteras fishing boat can't be wrong in any way.
Sorta like cutting the back half off a '63 Corvette and glassing in a pickup bed. It may be more functional, but it's still just wrong.

commercial fishing guys trust their boats for their livelihood and lives. doubt there are many other production brands that have been similarly converted.

Hargrave design and Hatteras built. valuable to the knowledgeable. seems like a compliment on some level. creative for sure.

just interesting that, if she fetches anywhere near her ask... she will be among the priciest 70's vintage 43's in recent years.

Looks like they did a good job on the conversion, but the question in my mind would be, why? Maybe it was a fire deal, but you know they spent a ton of money on that conversion and refit.

Back in the mid 70's, there was a 45C that caught fire and it was made into a commercial boat. Possibly this is the boat??

Them's strong words coming from your part of the country, where a camper - axle + Home Depot lumber + 55 gallon drums = boat.

:p

I would buy that boat and sleep in the engine room. I cant imagine the room.

I would say it's a fantastic use for these old boats. Our area is loaded with wooden deadrise work boats. The fiberglass ones are well over $100k.

Better if she was still a well cared for SF but this is better than her ending up in a dumpster or sitting in the back of a yard rotting.

Take off that damn spool and throw in a few bean bag chairs, and it would make an awesome tuna fishing platform. One of the pics looks like a greenstick mount is already there.

I agree, better this then back in the weeds of an old boat yard. As already mentioned I look at this a sort of a compliment to the design and build of the hull. Who ever did it could of probably picked from many brands and he picked this old Hatteras. Make the House about 5ft longer for a little roomier salon so you can add a little galley, 6 or 8 bunk beds, add a Flybridge and this wouldn't be a bad New Boat design for the dedicated canyon fisherman. Simple Design, Huge Cockpit, and plenty of room below and on deck for Meat Lockers. Lets not forget the efficiency, twin 430 HP Cummins and 17/23Knots. What a great fishing boat.

My favorite part of the boat though in that Custom Helm seat. It looks like the drivers seat from a 1987 Conversion Van, A.K.A. "Love Machine". It may even have Lumbar Support.

wonder how bubba would take a free insurance inspection? Devil made me do it just could not hold it back...

So, when are you taking a Sawzall to yours? ;)

You left off the Briggs & Stratton powered paddle wheel. It'd be dumb without that.
