Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
hello!
Just bought a Hatteras 53 motoryacht and I am interested in everything I need to know.
Does anyone know about links to manuals and other documentation about the yacht?

Congratulations! Call Hatteras and give them your hull number and request the manuals and diagrams. Otherwise use the thread search engine on this site to look for answers to questions. Very valuable information contained within the site. Call Sam's for parts.

Yep, +!000!!

if the boat does not have the original manual/schematics that were supplied with it when delivered, contact Hatteras and obtain those for the boat. They are an extremely valuable resource which will allow you to understand the boat's configuration when new and also allow you to fix the usual electrical "rat's nests" that previous owners have created. You can get copies of the original document ion from Hatteras by supplying them with the boats hull number and some money. It used to be 75 bucks but may be higher now. It doesn't matter how much higher the price may be now, pay it!

The documentation includes a list/explanation/diagram of every system on the boat as well as any options that were included. Also included are the electrical schematics and related diagrams - 15 to 20 (maybe more) full size blueprints. You will never find anything for your boat that is worth more than that original paperwork

Frankly, IMO it is safe to assume that any modification from the original systems other than electronics are downgrades, NOT upgrades. ;)

Congrats!
Your vessel looks awesome! SAMS and HOF are your friends.

Congratulations and welcome to the Hatteras forum. This site will help you through all of the issues you will have. Lots of long time owners and experts on this site. Tons of information and knowledge awaits you here. Words I was given when I bought my 53 that I wish I listened to is ( don't throw anything away until you truly know your boat) good luck and welcome. Rusty

Gratulerer med en flott 53. Har selv en 42 LRC, vi burde starte en norsk Hatterasklubb :-)

I could not have said it better! :)

Boy is that ever true. You SO could not have. LOL

I wasn't going to mention it, but your Norwegian leaves a lot to be desired.

that is one great looking 53. Without all the canvas typically on the bridge, it really shows Hargrave's vision. Beautiful lines.

Ronny,

Congrats!!! I also own a 1969 53' Hatteras MY. I have # 2 off the blocks, which was built in High Point NC. I can help should you have questions.

Mike

Thank You!
I get the boat in august and there is a lot of manuals and stuff in the boat.
My friends are so exited that they are offering to help me for no charge .
By now I have a mechanic and electrician so I guess that will save a lot off dollars.
The engines are running very good and seems to be in great shape.
I will post som more photos when I get the boat.

Ronny

Thank You!
I really look forward to getting the boat.
I am taking over on August 15.
I will posts some more photos then.

Ronny...Congratulations...Boat looks great!!! Don't know how many 53's they built over 20+ years, but I have the last one which I bought new in Seattle in 1989. Quite an impressive production run.

Those are some magnificent photos of your beautiful vessel. I'm hopefully only a few weeks behind you, sea trials and surveys this Friday... best of luck to you!!
