Left for vacation on June 20th on route to the keys to R&R. We cruised the ICW from south Tampa Bay to Ft. Myers with a stop in Venice.
After Ft Myers out into the Gulf down to Naples. From Naples to Marathon. Marathon to Matecumbe and on to Key Largo. Then back to Marathon and then Naples. Then Icw at Ft myers and stop in at Cayo Costa Boca Grande then home.
Average price of fuel about $2.85 a gallon. Slips where we stayed and payed averaged about $1.50 a foot. No charge for water or electricity. Although did have one guy say there was a water ban and I could not actually wash the boat.
Everything ran great on the boat 6V92 DDEC. averaged about .55 NMPG at 25kts and 1875 RPM. Had to clean sea strainers twice around Marathon bunch of grass. About 60 Hours of total time added two quarts of oil per engine.
There were very few larger boats traveling. Since the big O is closed I thought I'd see a lot of boats. In fact there was very light traffic. We did not make reservations, anywhere we went we just showed up and were never turned away.
As they say thousands of dollars for the boat, thousands of dollars for slip, thousands of dollars for the fuel etc. Snorkeling over the reefs holding my 11 year old daughters hand with the boy and the admiral in sight "PRICELESS".
I had worked on the boat so much I almost forgot how to really enjoy it! We fished, snorkeled, sight saw, cruised, discovered, played and just plain had FUN.
Boating is an amazing hobby that can truely trasform your life. We returned July 7th. It is awfully hard to get back into the swing of things.........
