  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
46' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1981 - 1984)
Going to junk all my current charges and start over what do you suggest? Four batteries. Appreciate the help.

What voltage and how many batteries of what size?

Why are they junk? That boat has a unique set up with 12/24 volt there are three chargers and the chargers all charge at 12 volts. One charger charges the two fwd batts and seperate chargers charge the aft starting batts. The orig aft chargers were only 3 amp Lamarche chargers and only have 10 amp fuses behind the panel. Be careful.

4 8D battlers 12 volt. Wired through battery switches to make 24 for mains

Thats the exact setup. The 24 routinely blows fuses or overload breaker (red button) one of the 3 amp chargers is bad. They have been rewired direct to aft batts. No idea why. We're always having dead batts and just want to put dead batteries behind me and start over.

The 24? The charger should all be 12 volts!!

I get four years out of my batteries. Someone did something wrong. Do you have the Sentry charger for the house?

The Guest 6 amp chargers work well on the cranking batteries and are compatable with the factory wiring.

Sounds like you need to hire Dave to fix it right. Just replacing with new is not working up to know so give him a call.

DIY is sometimes dangerous.

I agree. Get someone who knows their way around marine DC wiring to look over the entire system and troubleshoot it.

Yes it is sentry but is a 12 volt
