My oldest son, MAJ Scott Meyers just returned from a 2 week recon, preparing to deploy within the next 45 days. He describes the heat in Iraq as 4 hair dryers on High blowing 6 inches from your face while someone throws sand in your face, while carrying the daily combat ballistic vest, helmet, goggles, gloves, load-bearing equip, camelback, weapons, ammo, knives, grenades of about 90# total weight. He tells me that by 10:00 am the heat rises to 125+.

My hats off to those brave men and women, I salute them, their efforts and their ability to deliver American firepower on our behalf. Sure hope he returns from this tour better than his last tour. I was honored to have served with these warriors!
