No way,15' is almost as hi as the bridge. Looks more like 6'-8'. Everybody exagerates wave size.

That was last fall coming back from the Bahama's. It of course is a 65C open bridge. The boat was one of the Repo boats that was for sale at the time.

I kinda thought it looked like a typical Fla east coast afternoon squall line.

Hard to tell from the video but I don't think they're 15' seas. Maybe an occasional 15' but can't say. Sounds like they were running pretty hard for the sea state.

Look at the relationship to the bow. How high would a 65 bow ride off the water 10' maybe? The waves looked to be half that. I ve stood in the cockpit on many days where peeps were wining about how rough it was and rarely do I see waves above my line of sight to the hoizion. 4-6 becomes 10-15 in most of the "well there I was" stories. True 15' would have stuffed the bow at that speed.

4-6 feet IMO.

The spray makes it look dramatic.

Watch the pulpit from bottom of the trough top the top. I say 6 to 8 with an occasional 10. Keep in mind it is a 65 ft boat and the pulpit is probably 7 to 8 ft off the water. They waves are very close together which really jostles you.

yah I agree they look like they were running pretty hard given the sea conditions ... the guy sitting in the back corner didn't look too happy !
I've been out a few times in crazy stuff on Lake Huron (square waves) on both my Hatt and my previous sailboat (usually caught in a squall line / severe thunderstorms). Sailboats like wind and wind means big waves if the fetch is long enough .... and in MHO those didn't look 15' to me. There's nothing like a couple of waterspouts on the horizon (seen those bad boys a few times on the Great Lakes) to convince you things can and do get pretty wild out there. Makes me glad I have a Hatt, even if it is just a little 13 tonner ...

I have to state that 4-6 is understated, since I can run quarter or head on into 4-6' w/my 43'MY; 3-5's for sure. Seems like they wouldn't throw around a 65' boat that easlily. However, the 6-8's or 7-9's looks/sounds about right, with a 12 thrown in doesn't seem far fetched.

Question: What is the constant high-pitched whine in that and the other video's? Is that from the turbo's?

I'd say that's about right. 6-8 chop might seem like 15 footers when they're that tight. The boat is moving around too much for it to be 4-6. We sea trialed my 65 in 3-5' steep chop. Boat was running 24kts and was barely flinching. you could walk around the cabin and up and down the bridge ladder like you were running in dead calm water. Engine surveyor was climbing around the ER with no issue. Could barely feel the boat move in the enclosed bridge. I thought we were running around 18-19kts until I looked at the GPS.

Sounds like turbos to me, which means they ain't idling. Looking at the wake it's hard to say how fast they're going, but.... they ain't idling.
