  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
58' LRC (1975 - 1981)
"browsing" Yachtworld this evening and came across this "LRC".

http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/197...-Cruiser-2146210/St.-Charles/MO/United-States

A couple of things struck me to think it's not an LRC:
- no stairs to the master in the salon
- doesn't appear to be a port door in the pilothouse
- 8V92T ?? Stock would have had 471's or 671's.
- 770 gallons fuel, where originals had 2,200.
- No aft cockpit that I can see.

Descriptions were definitely cut 'n pasted from another LRC listing, because this isn't a LRC, imho.....

It is a 58MY. Something is fishy, the beam, weight, speed, draft are all wrong unless the hull has been modified. Or the broker is ignorant.

All the descriptions are for an LRC....
All the SPECS and Pictures are for a MY.....

I'm guessing the broker is ignorant. Of course, he's in NC and the boat is apparently in MO.....so there is that!

You've got to love this competition SeaEric!

This explains a lot....

http://www.yachtworld.com/wootensmarine/

"Climb aboard one of our many bass, runabout, saltwater, or pontoon boats and experience the pleasure of being behind the wheel"

No offense to their company, I'm sure they're a great company, but for heaven's sake, you're trying to sell some guys $400,000 boat.....get the listing at least reasonably correct!

wrong speed, wrong beam, wrong draft... this is a 58MY

$400k ?? ROFL!

The real question is did the broker borrow the pictures from someplace online or did he borrow the specs and description. Without actually seeing the boat, we still have no idea if it is really a 58MY series I galley up or a 58LRC. Heck, maybe it's really a houseboat and he got the whole thing wrong.

i wonder if the owner even gave it to the broker... if you were the seller, wouldn't you check the listing once posted and notice the pictures dont' match the boat?

woudlnt' be the first time a 58MY that's not for sale ends up on YW!!

If it's an LRC, it would appear it's the cheapest priced 58LRC on YW. My guess is it's an LRC with the wrong pics and mixed up info. I sent them an email alerting them to the discrepancies. I doubt there's anything sinister involved.

I don't think there's anything sinister either....just very bad information.

That said, I'm betting is a MY from the pictures. I'm also betting the owner sent the broker the pictures and the broker filled in the blanks. Unfortunately, he didn't know what he was describing.

Thanks for letting them know.

I'm not the type who will laugh at some guy in a Sea Ray headed toward a sand bar as opposed to hailing him on a VHF. :D

I didn't realize there were only 50 some odd 58LRC's made, so I guess that answers the question about your hull number.

That ad is all messed up. That boat is most certainly a galley up 58MY - I know.. I have one just like it, but much prettier inside.

The beam is wrong; the draft is wrong; the LWL is wrong; the speed for those engines is wrong - ad states max speed is 10 knots. We got 22 on our 8v92TIs in that same boat. They got the tankage fairly correct though - water is spot on, but fuel is 5 gallons off!

I question whether she's a 1978. The lower helm is the newer style like found on my 1980, but the 1977 I know for a fact was different. Perhaps, the change came in 1978, but I seem to recall seeing other 1978 58MYs with the old style lower helm.

The boat in the photos is NOT a LRC for certain! And if that broker sells that 58MY for anywhere near $400,000 I'm going to list mine with him!

Yes, we know what the pictures show, but we don't know if those are actually pictures of the boat that is for sale.

After seeing that you wonder how many of the listings on YW are accurate. It definitely makes you realize that finding a good buyers broker can be worthwhile.

Just happened to think about this one this morning and went back to check on the listing. Seems they made some changes and it is indeed a 58MY that still cruises at 8 knots and tops out at 10.

It's a MY the broker's got to know that he's just trying to get interest calling it an LRC. I bet it's been over proped with engines de rated kind of an LRC wanabe. Broker's do all kinds of stuff like that trying to get into the search engine when someone does a search for LRC.

Maybe I am missing it. I do not see it called an LRC in the ad. The heading is 58 Motor yacht.

Must be they changed it.

They still describe an LRC though by writing of the aft stairs in the salon, etc.

At least they tried to correct it.

The boker is "getting there", but it's not quite right yet:

"She has a huge walk in engine room" - she has two cramped engine rooms that you can barely get yourself around! The LRC has "A huge walk in engine room." I remember hearing someone yell from my hot ER one day, "Can you throw me a towel? I'm roasting my nuts," as he was trying to squeeze around the front of the engine to the other side of the hot ER.

"A stairway aft in the salon leads to the master stateroom and engine room." Not!!

"A small cockpit . . . " What cockpit?

"She is a true open-water yacht with transatlantic range." Only if you have a tanker following closely behind. She does not have range anywhere even remotely near "transatlantic".

"One of her best points is that she only burns about 6GPH at 8 knots." Yeah, and I'm the Queen of England.

And the price which didn't get fixed either....he's going to have this listing for a very, very long time to come.

They changed it as the original listing had it as an LRC. That's what all the fuss was about a the heading didn't match the photos.

You would think that once they realized they had a mix and match situation, they would have confirmed the rest of the details. Heck, they could have at least sent me a thank you note for bringing this to their attention. :D

I sent them a note too giving them some proper specs - I see they corrected the tankage amounts and some measurements to what I told them they were. I didn't get a thank you either.

Send them another note telling them that it's a convertible and see if they change it again. You never know when the broker has only sold bass boats.
