Hatteras Model
43' DOUBLE CABIN (1970 - 1984)
Seems I have once again soaked a cell phone in salt water......
This time I did not fall off the dock....
I had left Falmouth Mass. last Friday.... Had just got to the beginning of Long Island Sound when the weather went to crap... Strong outgoing tide with high waves out of the northeast made for some big confused seas, to put it mildly
Plus I was only in a 30' Pursuit Sportfishman with twin Cummins.
I ended up finally anchoring up on the lee side of Fisher Island for the night.
Had my cell on the console and it went to the deck... My crewmember grabbed it and put it into the chart case on the console as it had a cover on it..... Also seems the isinglass leaks and it ran into the chart case...and my cell was swimming in 2" of saltwater..... Grrrrrr
Have a new one ordered (this will be my 3rd in 3 yrs)
Think it was in Motorboat mag they talked about a case that was actually waterproof...

Lifeproof

I have one on my iPhone, it is waterproof and can be used underwater

That said, being an everyday case, I always test it before using it underwater to make sure it hasn't been damaged

Love it...

I have used a DryCase for a long time with good result... IF I remember to use it. You can salvage most phones by taking out the battery ASAP, dry off the excess water by just tapping on it with a tissue and putting it in the middle of a bowl of rice for 24 hours. Always good to have a spare though. That's the nice thing about AT&T or T-Mobile (GSM phones) you can take out the SIM card and put it into your spare phone and you are good to go.

Go figure...
My "dead" saltwater logged cell came back to life and has been working fine...
DID get a new case though
