I have an old dysfunctional north star 951 at the helm and want to dump it and put mount for my ipad there. I also have a great nav net 3 and don't want to spend to replace the 951 with another dedicated unit. Has anyone added a mount for the iPad? I found one called a "ram mount" that has a bracket that is adjustable and is secured by3 screws. Curious about experience do far.
Thanks
Paul

I really like the RAM mounts, especially now in a marine environment. They make a whole variety of them for the iPad if you look at their site. On the boat, we have one up on the flying bridge that holds a 19" monitor. The range of adjustment and ability to tighten it down is very handy; you're going want to move the screen around a bit depending on light conditions.

Second the Ram Mount. I've used one for about ten years. When the ball broke recently, they sent a new one free. Good products and service.

Purchased and installed the Ram iPad mount several weeks ago. As noted the installation amounted to three screws and the mount worked perfectly. The kit even included two little rubber pads to account for the thinner iPad II. The iPad easily snaps into the holder and the design leaves the the bottom plug open and available to plug in a remote or even an attached (Bad Elf) GPS. It looks good and works...no downside.

Thanks all. I spent some more time looking, and as you noted, the ram looks to be the way to go.
A nice modest gift to myself this season.

Paul,

When we have had our Ipad on the boat, it seems hard to see on the flybridge. There is a lot of glare. Just my thoughts...

How's the baby??

Hi mike,
All is well. Jacqueline is almost 8 months and is doing great. Pm me with your phone and email, as I have misplaced them, so we can get together again.

I was surfing last pm ans saw that sea sucker mounts can hold the iPad as well. They are pricey, but if I don't like the way it works, I can use them for something else. Has anyone tried these out for this or any application for that matter?
