Hatteras Model
53' EXTENDED DECKHOUSE (1983 - 1988)
Hello: Looking at equipping the boat with some type of internet device(s) so that there is "always" a high speed connection available. Would appreciate suggestions from those that have had success equipping with such gear. Thank you!

DC

Cradlepoint has some really good cellular modems. We have an IBR1150 (now discontinued) connected to a good router (linksys nighthawk). Works great. I use an att sim in the US and a Bahamian Sim over there High speed multiple devices

Thanks Pascal!

Currently we have WiFi and Cellular Extenders (Rouge Waves) and use each accordingly to what’s available. Hope to replace all of it once and for all with Starlink’s high speed satellite internet....should not be to much longer before they have a tracking dish. Should even be able to eliminate the KVH/DirecTV and stream everything via Starlink. Hurry up Elon!!!

Cradlepoint has some really good cellular modems.

Do they have truly unlimited data plans or do they throttle at 20G? I've got data covered with unlimited AT&T but the TV streaming via a tether is in fact limited to 20GB so still WIFI only.

I get a message at about 25 gig saying they may throttle back but I have never noticed a slow down. I ve averaged 120/150 Gig a month

Haven’t used the Wave in years. Not worth the hassle since we now have unlimited data both stateside and in the Bahamas.

How much is the ATT unlimited per month for this application?

About $80 Not sure what the new plans are and if they throttle back new plans. I ve had the same number and account with them since 1990 or 1991 :)

I second the cellular modem.

I have two unlimited Verizon and one unlimited ATT mobile hotspot. Currently one verizon on the boat, one in the rv and the att at home. Works good for my wifi security cameras when I’m not around and internet usage when I am around. I was super lucky and bought them at the right time. Att is $20/mo and verizon is $15/mo/each.

These deals arent easy to find these days, although tmobile just offered a pretty good deal on their 5g hotspot for $50/mo for 100gb.

Not sure if anyone has seen this set up. It has worked great for me

I tried to add a link to the web site. I need 5 posts before I can

Here is my 5th post
