I don't know of any underwriters you can go directly to. You have to go to an agent when then gets to the underwriter.
First, where is your boat located? If you are in Florida, your choices are slim. You will most likely be dealing with an insurer in Europe. If you're lucky, Markel (a US company) might write a policy for you. And if you're even luckier, it might include named storm coverage.
As for agents...well, they all draw from the same pool of insurers and underwriter. There is no magical agent who can make things happen.
You'll need a squeeky clean survey on an old boat like yours (and mine!). The bigger it is, the harder it is to insure. If you have a certificate of some sort of boating safety course from Power Squadrons or USCG, it might get you a little discount, but when vessel age and size increase, those certificates don't mean all that much anymore.
If you located anywhere other than Florida, your choices may be many. Just contact a local agent. I'm sure the HOF members can recommend someone in your area, so please tell us where the boat will be kept.
