  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
41' TWIN CABIN (1965 - 1971)
Does anyone know of another insurance company who will insure older (1969) boats and do they all require a survey. Mine is coming up for renewal and after having Geico/Boatus for the past 10 years they are asking for an insurance survey before renewal. I was quoted 1400.00 for the survey on my 41 ft boat.

How about Homeowners in Florida? I just received a non-renewal letter yesterday because before 2002 built, and within three miles of the Coast.

Consider yourself lucky they only want a survey. I live in florida, where most companies have stopped writing policies here altogether.

Hagerty insures classic boats. But they're quite a bit more expensive than Geico/BOATUS. That does sound expensive for an insurance survey. Might want to shop around.

All will require a survey on that vessel. There are better options then geico.

Survey is normal. Usually every 5 years. Some will allow an in water survey which will save you the haul out expenses

I have had good luck with W3 insurance

An in the water insurance survey should be no more than $20.00 a foot, unless there is a lot of travel time involved.
