  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
52' CONVERTIBLE (1983 - 1990)
Hi,

Been lurking on this site for several years. Reading up and studying old posts. Dreaming of eventually being able to become a Hatteras owner. Well, the time has come. I've convinced the wife (or she convinced me) that we are ready for a bigger boat. We are looking for a 45C, 46C, or 48C. I'm located in the northeast (CT to be exact) and aside from one or two 48's, Yatchworld has pretty slim pickings. I'd like to find something close by (NE or mid atlantic).
Details:
1. Budget about $150
2. Will be used 80% Cruising, 20% fishing in Long Island Sound
3. don't need tuna tower....I'd probably kill myself climbing up there.
4. Queen/Full master.
5. Turnkey mechanically. I want to use it this year...not spend months rebuilding engines or something.

I'm sure there is a great boat out there somewhere that fits my needs and is a good value. I just need a little help and guidance to find it.

Thanks in advance.

There are a number of 48C listed in your area. Disregard the high asking prices. A good 48C shouldn't be more than 150K. Look at as many as you can even the ones that are priced high and have towers. It will give you a better understanding of the model and condition of these boats. I'd start with this one.

Looks like a nice well maintained boat. Some noce equipment like the davit. Not sure if the tender is included. Electronics need updating but engine hours aren't too high.
There are a couple cheap ones that may be worth a look. The repo for 105K may be a decent deal if you can buy it right. Looks OK but engine hours are high. If the price is right and it's running, you may be able to use it for now and then get the engines majored later on.

I also like this 46HP. I know its not close by but it may be worth the trip. It has had a lot of work done and some real nice upgrades. She was for sale for a lot more not too long ago.

Bringing the boat home is half the fun. Look further south and enjoy.

Thanks. The 48C you referenced is on my list to go see. The 199K asking price was holding me back some. I sort of felt it should be in the 150 range but had no way to get a feel for actual value.

Boatsb,

Someday....I'd love to do the opposite. Find a boat up north and move me and it down south. But for now I am where I am.

Boy, for less than half the asking price, I know which one I'd pick. Nice 46. AND the HP version, too..... very nice. Can't believe it's for sale for 94K ask.
