  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
50' CONV -Series I (1966 - 1969)
I'm looking at replacing my 50 y/o OHNO with a new genny. Any recommendations on where to get a good deal on a 15 kW on the east coast. I'm a cash and carry customer and will install myself.

I have a buddy I will check with.

Just sent a pm. Love the Phasor gensets.

Phasor will work with you.

If you don't have to have a new genset, you can look in B&H and on eBay; I found a great deal on my home generator set, which is a Northern Lights 16kW. NL sets have a great reputation, and deserve it. I have one on my boat and one at home, and they have been very good.

Tier 4 is cutting down the number of options. My buddy makes genny with yanmar power and can't get engine es for larger than. 7 kw at the moment. Thanks zero.

My boat had a rather new Northern Lights 20kw generator when I bought it in 2002. It has worked flawlessly.

Check your PM

After owning Onan, Westerbeke and Kohler gensets over the years I would recommend Northern Lights. The model you would want to look at is the M844DW3. In general they are easy to service. Easy to get parts for and have a new canbus control system which enables connections to NEMA 2000 networks if you need that functionality.

NL is local for me and I know a couple of guys over there if you need a hand. PM me for more info.

Indeed. Soon we will have to use DEF and other emissions controls. I though that only affects the 500 ton +market though?

Wasn't it Rodger that left Sam's to go work for Northern Lights think he took care of a few members here and most likely be at FLIBS.

I don't know Roger. Unfortunately, Northern lights doesn't sell direct though so a local dealer would be required.

He might still be able to help you out, though.

Roger put me into a great Kohler. He's usually at FLIBS in the engine tent, Kohler display. He'd be my first (and last) call.

Norpro is in CT. I'll bet they would sell one to you direct and you could pick it up there. My 15KW has been a good unit. No complaints.

I would not even consider Onan after the way I have been treated by them over the last year. Their
customer service could not be worse. Roger Weatherington is/was working for Kohler and he quoted
me an excellent price on a 17KW Kohler earlier this year.

I second that if it makes any difference. Roger is a friend to Hatteras owners he knows a lot about the old ones.
