  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
46' CONVERTIBLE-Series II (1981 - 1984)
My 46" C has been in the yard for 6 weeks now, I had some rot on the bow deck repaired, put a live bait tank installed in the transom, moved the transom door to port side, stripped all the hardware, removed and remodeld the flybridge console and now she's ready for paint which will be Awlgrip as that is what the yard is used to using. The bottom and running gear was completed last August so I'm good there. I rebuilt the Allisons with the help from some of you and Brian at Arcadian Marine Transmission. Now all is left is... well a shitload of more work! new sofa, carpet, fridge, expanding one bunk into a somewhat double since my wife had breast augumentation there's no room for me.
it's been a fun project, here are the numbers

fixing 511 blisters, rebulding the rudder posts/glands/bushings,servicing the wheels and installing 2 new transducers and polishing the original hull with 3m Finessit?
$8500.00

Remove all hardware, build new swim step, install bait tank, move transom door, remove and modify console on flybridge, remove stripes, apply hi build and other primers, paint hull from waterline up including non skid decks
$35,000

I think I will take it slow for a while and try to get some fishing trips in. Over the years with my past boats I found that if I just dump money into them and don't take them out and enjoy them with my kids I'm not so happy and feel bitter....I have a 2 month vacation coming around march 15th and my plan is only spend money on fuel, oil, bait and rum
wish me luck!

You've been busy! Great to see one being brought back and cared for. What changes did you make to the bridge console?

Are these the numbers for the breast augmentation, or for the boat refit? I'm confused.

35k for all that finish work is a great price, what yard are you in?

The boat is in Ensenada Mexico about 60 miles by sea south of San Diego ca. at a small yard named Belarde. I could have never afforded to rebuild one of these boats in the USA. Over the years with my other boat and this one I have built up good relationships with several vendors and I get stuff done right and cheap. I had the turbos and all exhaust piping re insulatedwith that nice gray covered stuff and for both 8v92's my bill was $300.00, I was expecting to pay $2000.00

If any of you guys have a boat on the west coast I will give you the contact info for the vendors I use and like

Well no paint on Sunday or Monday.... weather and holiday related so today I'm borrowing my 86yr old friends boat, it's a 1965 CrisCraft 34 ft sea skiff and going fishing with the kids. All this time on the hard is killing me!

Good Ships and Good Men Rot in Port!

Geo..I am not familiar with this yard. We have slip neighbors here in SD that had similar work done at Baja Naval there in Ensenada. Where is this yard located in relationship to Naval and Cruiseport Marina? Thanks..and good luck. Ross

Hi Ross, The yard is by Arona Harware on the old (closest to water) road to enter Ensenada right next to a small shipyard called Asterllos Progresso. The guy running the project is Ramon Garcia he rents the yard space from Oscar Belarde who owns the yard.

Thanks! I had the forward part raised up straight to acommadate some flat screen electronics it should be a decent angle and just higher then the original windscreen/ss work on the front of the flybridge, the color and flybrige ideas were a copy of the Good Grief.

Regards,
Geo
