  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
53' MOTOR YACHT (1969 - 1988)
I have an Ideal 32v windless on my 53MY as you may know Ideal made the whole bow pulpit, which on my 73model does not have a roller. I want to put a larger anchor which would require a roller, has anyone mounted a roller system for one or more anchors on an Ideal Pulpit. I'd like to have two anchors on a roller system. The Ideal pulpit has two bow chocks built into the pulpit for a snubber I suppose and possibly so you could have two anchors out if necessary. Any suggestions short of totally modifying the pulpit. By the way Ideal still has or will make for you any part for you windless talk about good customer service.

Have the same setup on our 1972 53MY. The Ideal base plate has a slot cut into it, with a roller attached to pillow-blocks mounted from below, through-bolted to the base plate. The roller plate is located in about a 12" area behind the chocks on the point. I don't know if it was an add-on or an Ideal mod. Give them a call, they are still RI.

Thanks Mike, when you say baseplate are you talking about the pulpit? On mine the pulpit is a plate with gusted sides and a gusset running across the center for strength. I don't think the sides are strong enough for a roller guess the pillow blocks provide the support. Good point on calling Ideal they have been very helpful. Thanks for the info. Ron

I'll try and get some close up pics this weekend. I believe part of the center gusset was removed, but I am not a 100% certain. I'll let you know next week. mike
