Icom 506 Cover

Just an FYI for anybody interested. ICOM does not make a cover for these radios. I’ve already had one destroyed by the sun on my fly bridge (that was before we had a full cover made, but that’s beside the point) so I went in search of something to protect the new one. Turns out this cover works. It’s for a Standard Horizon Radio but fits perfectly with or without the front face microphone connection. I used a little acetone to remove the standard horizon logo.

The quality and value between icom and SH is always debated. With that I'll ask if you've ever seen moisture behind the LCD screen in your icoms? Have a vinyl graphics guy make your boat name to fit on the VHF sun cover. that will look cool.

Didn’t have the moisture problem. Used one of the decals we had made for the boat to cover up the slight etching from the acetone. Great suggestion!
