Icemaker in cabinet - heat dissipation

Maybe too much spare time - to ponder appliance ventilation in enclosed cabinets? After a few years of observing the aft deck icemaker struggle on warm days I decided to install a fan to augment the air flow into the front, and another smaller fan to pull the heat out of the back of the cabinet. One variable speed knob controls both fans. Total investment about $40, and my high labor cost. Seriously, the icemaker fills up in a fraction of the time, especially on hot days. Maybe not elegant, but certainly effective!

Good job.. Lots of folks don't seem to understand that these small units need to "breath" cooling air to
last. We had a similar situation on an aft deck builtin small fridge under a counter and I built a louvered
teak grill on the side of the cabinet as low as possible and an other on the other side of the cabinet as
close to the top as possible. Being as hot air rises my thought was that it would escape from the top
louvers after cooling the unit. Originally I was going to install a small electronics fan to facilitate the air
movement but decided to give it a go without the fan......That was over 20 years ago and the fridge still
works great with two boat owners since me. Very simple and pain free..

Ditto. This pulls the air. The condenser fan is already pushing hot air.
