Hatteras Model
Not Currently A Hatteras Owner
I became a registered member on this forum approx. a year to a year and a half ago. I joined because I thought for sure I would end up buying a hatteras. I really wanted a 53 conv. , then decided it was just to big. Then I looked hard at 46 conv. While looking for a 46, I came across a good deal on a Buddy Davis. My two questions are these: 1. Does anybody know of any forums like this for buddy davis owners? 2. Even though I don't own a hatteras can I still use this forum? I sure hope the answer to #2 is yes because this is one great forum with a great bunch of people and a heck of alot of good useful info. If I am unable to participate, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped me out in the past. Thank you very much, Chris.

We have quite a few active forum members who don't own Hatteras yachts. Of course you are still welcome here. You probably won't find a lot of spare parts at Sam's Marine, but you never know.... :D

Post a photo of your boat on this thread. I'm assuming you ended up with a 47 Davis...they are handsome boats, from what I recall. You don't see a lot of them up here on the Chesapeake.

ok-time to admit it--I don't own a Hatteras--I own a 1989 501 chris craft and have remained on this site because of all the great information . Most of which applies--I think the 501 was chris crafts attempt to compete against the Hatteras MY. A lot of the gear ie 6v92 detroit diesels, hyanautic steering , transmission and throttle control. etc are the same if not very similar--but more importantly the "boating problems" ie water tank odors, fuel contamination, prop damage while cruising, anchoring problems, etc apply to all boaters and therefore this is a fantastic site for all boaters. The group is magnanimous in responding to all questions and thus help to make boating more fun and safer for all on the water.
If they kicked all of the non-hatteras owners off the site-I guess we could become Hatteras voyeurs rather than participants and we would have to live vicariously through the adventures of Pascal, Angela, Freebird, Carl Guzman and all the senior members. On behalf of the non-hatteras participants--Thanks. ( I wonder how many of us there are?)

Well as long as you had Hatteras on the mind I guess it's ok but when ever you compare the boats on the site you must remember after any negative coment of a hatt you must follow with a positive , so you don't stur up a lashing :D Buddy Davis Boats are limited in production and are more of a custom line but I think they are worthy of hanging out with Hatteras ;) what type of power she got?

Docs, tell me it ain't so, you're a wannabe Hatt owner? Hey, I for one don't mind when people who own lesser quality boats want to hang out with Hatt guys! Kind of like I told a Gomer with a Roamer, you can't beat a Cat in a Hatt.

How else would you guys learn what you are missing? As always, I never miss a chance to plug the Hatt (uh, that didn't sound good, did it?) I have for sale. You too can be a Hatt owner for the amazingly low price of $94,999.99!!!

Order now, and I'll throw in an autographed picture of me, Pascal, Angela, and Guzboy for your inspirational journey to Hattville. This is a limited time offer. One per customer. Visa and MasterCard accepted, or 90 seconds same as cash. Pick up the phone and dial 1-800-251-9992, operators are standing by. :D

Hey-- if Im the Gomer in the Roamer then you gotta be the Scat in the Hatt :D

Nope, I'm the Jed in the Sledd!

Nope, a Baptist. Hey Bubba, we need to go play somewhere else now, these boys were serious when they started this thread, and we've taken it way off course. See you back at the birthday party where everybody knows what they are getting into when they look in the window.

The Buddy Davis is a fine piece of nautical equipment! But beware, if you hang out here long enough, you will wind up with a Hatteras. The longer you have a boat, the more you will learn about the design. Once you have had a Hatteras, you will know why Jack Hargraves and Willis Slane are legends. The Buddy Davis is one man's idea of what a yacht should be. There will be good things you will like and some you won't. The classic Hats have earned their owners love and trust by performing in terrible conditions and providing superior performance over time and around the world. This reputation, backed by a great boat, and great customer service is the reason that Hatteras has become the standard by which all other boats are judged. All other boats want to be a Hatteras. We as classic owners have additional resources, Sam's Marine provides this forum along with great service and parts, Tom Slane at Slane Marine (Willis' son still provides refit of older boats, and of course the Hatteras Factory still supports us. So come along for the ride, but if you wind up with a Hatteras, I told you so! :D

Well said Chris. Believe me you don't have to sell me on the hatts. I love them. This Buddy was a deal I just could not pass up. I also have to admit I've always had something for that carolina flare.
