40' DOUBLE CABIN-Series I (1986 - 1989)
What is the standard reading on the gauge and when should you add air? Owned this 40'MY nine years, never added air. Gauge reads 8lbs.

I think the sight gauges are designed to be at 12 o'clock when at correct pressure. I'll be on the boat in a few hours and I'll see what pressure that is!

I think it might be different with power steering but not sure. Mine is set to 30 psi with power assist steering. Pretty sure my 46C was the same. Never touched the 46 and only added air to my 65 after I replaced hoses and when I blew a seal on the servo. You don't need the air pressure as long as the fluid is the right level and there's no air in the system.

The 12 o'clock position on the steering reservoir gauge is 30 psi, the transmission reservoir 12 o'clock position is 50 psi.

20 pounds is plenty the keep the steering functional. I think the manual calls for 30 but that seems to increase the likelihood of a leak at the steering head.

What is the correct pressure for the hynautic gear shift pressure please? 1985 61MY, Scott.

Don't remember the pressure for the engine controls but for steering i usually out 10 to 15. No need for more. All the pressure does is push fluid from the reservoir up in the lines to the PH and FB so it takes very little

Usually has no effect on autopilot since the pump is typically mounted in the ER. It will be the last thing to work with zero pressure or fluid leak
