Just a suggestion to all members, thought it would be a great idea that you post your hull number after your signature. This way if you see a current boat with close hull numbers you can reach out to those members. I think it could bring the forum even closer together. This is what mine looks like.

The two letter designation for the model would help too. For the 53ED that would be CN.

In the building where my boat is stored right now are two other CN hulls and all of them are 1985's. Mine is 759, the other two are 742 and 735, I think. That would mean that there were quite a few 53ED's built in 1985.

Thanks for your support Sky.

Rusty this is a great idea! I’m going to change mine today! Thanks.

Here's mine HATAM617M83H.

MadHatter, look at my post 3 up from this one. Mine hull number, boat name and location shows after each post. You will need to go into your settings and add yours. Thanks for doing it.

I just went to edit my signature only to realize hull # info was already there! I'm dangerously close to being able to hide my own Easter eggs.

How's that Seven.

Why can't I get my sig to match?

No that’s funny. Best one I’ve heard all day.

The last two posts do match. You might want to stack them on top of one another.

Boat name
Boat length
Hull number
Boat location

I like that Robert you actually stamp the number right on the hull. 😂

I did stack, them and it's still the same

Good idea Rusty!

Let's give this a whirl....

Very nice gentlemen/ladies. Keep them coming.

Hi Rusty,

When I bought my Hat I sent my hull number information to Vicky Couch at Hatteras and and her what my Hat's hull number (HATDD377B989) number represented. Here is her reply:

HAT-COAST GUARD ASSIGNED FOR HATTERAS
DD-MODEL DESIGNATION (IN THIS CASE 40 DOUBLE CABIN)
377-HULL NUMBER-ORDER OF DELIVERY.
B-MONTH OF MANUFACTURE (B-BEING FEB)
9-LAST NUMERAL OF THE LAST YEAR OF MANUFACTURE
89-MODEL YEAR

There were 86-40DC built between the years 1986-1989. Your boat was the 77th 40DC built during this time.

Hope this answers your questions.

Kindest Regards,

So the number 377 in my boats hull number did not represent the number of 40 DC's series 1 made but the order of delivery. Now Hat changed its hull numbering system so the numbers of earlier boats may represent something different than my numbers do. So should I sign off with a hull number of 377 or 77 representing the 77th 40 DC ever made?
