How to install 6-71 Sea Water Pump?

How do you install a Jabsco Sea Water Pump on a 6-71 TIB? I'm having problems getting the pump drive gear to mesh with the inside of the coupling gear which turn, slides into a multi-tooth socket on one of the gear train gears. The pump was removed from the drive plate adapter which is still on the engine.

You have to hold the pump squarely over the coupler to get it to mesh. Usually goes right in. Sometimes you just can't get the right position. Usually if it fights you take a break then retry it. You might have better luck using a couple studs to help align the pump.
