  1. OWNER - I own a Hatteras Yacht
Hatteras Model
61' COCKPIT MY (1981 - 1985)
There is a weird heating plate in one of the wall cabinets in the galley in our new-to-us boat. It has been driving my wife crazy, so I disassembled part of the cabinet this morning to uninstall it.The wires run down behind the cabinet and I cannot tell where they are coming from, so I cannot disconnect them at the source. For the time being, I have unscrewed the fuse holder and removed the fuse, but I would like to remove the heating element from the cabinet and put everything back together. I can’t figure out which of the wires it is safe to cut, and I can’t figure out how to kill the power to them either.Any suggestions?

I had the same warmer in cabinets above fridge. Mine was wired to the outlet to the right.

Why would you want to remove it? The crisper cabinet is one of the best parts of owning a Hatteras. Do you enjoy soggy crackers?

Not the pink wire,,, to the detonator..

Not my department. Wife says they make everything stale and the bread moldy. I just do as I'm told.

I took mine out too. As Madhatter53 said its hardwired to the 110v outlet nearby. You might want to go into the receptacle box and figure out which wires it is and pull them through as opposed to just snipping line voltage wires in the cabinet. the tray works on resistance so there is no true pos or neg, it's like a lightbulb in operation. Maybe post it in parts for sale

I assumed it was a plate warmer.

Thanks - I'll check the nearby outlet.

They should have worked one into the toilet seat for these December days here in New England.
