I want my raw water cooling pump to stay on when I have the breaker on. I don't want the units turning it on and off. Im having issues because its got 4 units on 1 pump. I want it to just stay on when I turn it on.

How do I wire or jump it to only work from the breaker? I'm no electrician...

Don't do it.

Fix the triggers and do it right.

The TRIAC switches to turn the pump on and off are only like $80 online and a <5 minute job to change. Just wiring it to where the pump stays on even when the ac's aren't running is going to shorten the lifespan of the pump and bronze impeller. That said, replace one of the TRIAC's with a solid piece of metal and your pump will stay on. Some people splice into the wires leading to and from of the TRIAC switches and run the extra wires into a toggle switch that's mounted on the top or side of the box, I've seen that in a couple of these boats before. Then you can turn the pump on with the switch. Next time I go to the boat I can take you a picture of the box if you want.

I replaced all my TRIAC's 2 years ago and all work fine now. They last a long time as long as you don't have voltage spikes.

The advantage of having relays or triacs to control the pump is that if something happens like a hose failing or a plastic bag clogging the thru hull, the pump will shut down when the ACs shut down on high pressure.

Otherwise if you re in places like Florida, the pump will pretty much 24-7 as you all pretty much always have at least one unit calling for it.

Open the PWX box. Move the two pump wires up to the terminals feeding the box. Then the pump will run continuously.

As far as Triacs, they are available on Amazon for under $10 each. These are the same part as CruisAir would sell you for $80 but you don't get the heat sink with it. I can look up the specs of that Triac if anyone is interested. Ever since I bought a whole bag of them, I think I've replaced one and that wasn't even on my boat. :)

Thanks everyone. I’m not going to jump it. I’ll find the bad relay and replace it.

Sky, I have at least 1 bad triac switch, I was going to take the cover of the box off and look for a part number but I have to move the remote oil filter mounting board first because someone covered the screws with it. Do you know the part number or are they different? Just a generic search turns up A-548. Hopefully I'll get to the boat tomorrow night

I'll be on the boat Saturday night and I can look at one of my spares and get the number for you.
